Editor's Letter- January 2009

We made it to 2009 and with the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama this year seems more special for anyone who hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. This is the first time in my lifetime that I have seen such a bad economy and so many people losing their jobs. It's a tough world to live in right now and as President Barack Obama has stated before it will only get worse before it gets better.

Celebrities always seem to make it through the hard times. Movies will never fully stop production, your television won't go black, nor will the mansions in Los Angeles used for reality shows post a foreclosed sign on their front gate. Sure there might be less of it all, but in tough times celebrities never seem to be affected.

So I wondered what their recipe for success is. They always seem to stick together, help one another out. From pulling money together to buy a house for Ed McMahon- to Dr. Phil helping Britney Spears with her rehab.

Even though we love to talk about celebrities as some sort of fantasy world that they live in, maybe they have it right in, "sticking together."

I was able to attend the Inauguration of Barack Obama this month and what struck me the most is how so many people came together for one cause. From the poor and less fortunate who just wanted to be their, to Oparah, Denzel Washington, and Dustin Hoffman who had a pretty good spot in front. That day everyone was equal. Everyone was American.

Some reality isn't bad, but your dreams have to far out weigh it. That’s what life should be, especially in America where anything is possible.

That’s hope.

Paris Hilton Thinks British Prime Minister Is A Celebrity Chef

Paris Hilton is in London this week promoting her new show British Best Friend.

But when asked who the Prime Minister is? She replied,

"It’s Gordon… Gordon Ramsay?"

However, Gordon Ramsay is the foul mouthed celebrity chef. She then went on to correct herself and say,

"Gordon Brown"

She blamed the slip up do to the fact she had just dined at one of Ramsay's restaurants.

Kim Kardashian Comes To Jessica Simpson's Defense

Kim Kardashian is the second person to defend the remarks made this week about Jessica Simpson packing on a few pounds. This comes the day after rumors have surfaced of Tony Romo cheating on dear ol' Jess.

Kim told People magazine,

"Call me crazy, but when I saw the picture [of Simpson performing Jan. 25 in Pembroke Pines, Fla.], I was like, 'Oh my God, Jessica looks hot!' "

"I actually love the outfit. I think she looks amazing. I love high-waisted jeans, I loved that belt, and her hair looked fabulous."

"I get that she does look curvier, but to me, there's nothing wrong it."

"It doesn't really bother me anymore. I love curves. Being super skinny just isn't attractive to me. When I saw that picture, I knew everyone was going to say something. And I thought, 'You know what? Leave Jessica alone!' She's fabulous, she's a really sweet girl, and I admire her for putting up with it."

Just yesterday Jessica's younger sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz posted on her blog- attacking those who criticized her sister's weight.

Evan Rachel Wood & Mickey Rourke An Item?

Much rumors have been floating around about 21 year-old Evan Rachel Wood being romantically involved with 56 year-old actor Mickey Rourke. Wood recently played Rourke's daughter in, The Wrestler.

Wood split from ex-boyfriend Marilyn Manson back in December.

According to Fox News,

The two attended Grey Goose’s Official SAG after-party at the Shrine on Sunday evening but were spotted leaving together enroute to the later after party at the Four Seasons Hotel. According to Pop Tarts spies, the actress went upstairs with Rourke (whose second marriage ended over a decade ago) when he suddenly grabbed her for a lip-lock in the outside area of the swanky five-star hotel.

Age difference doesn't seem to affect Hollywood elites from tangoing. Such a cute couple. Aren't they?

Megan Fox To Play The Next Lara Croft?

There comes a time in every actor's career when they are replaced with someone younger, and more potent to please the masses in Hollywood. Well, that day might soon come true for Angelina Jolie.

It appears as though Megan Fox (voted world's sexiest everything, by every publication in the world) is up for the part of the next Lara Croft.

According to E! News,

While producers say an actress likely won't be cast until a writer and director have signed on, Fox has emerged as the frontrunner replacement, at least as far as the blogosphere is concerned.

We can't agree more that Megan would serve the role of Lara well- for obvious reasons we don't feel we need to explain.

How ever, (like every year) the committees that approve Super Bowl ads rejected this ad do to it being too sexually explicit... thus going the way of GoDaddy of years past.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Stands Up For Big Sister Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson was back in the blogosphere this week for her stunning performance at the 99.9 Kiss Country’s 24th Annual Chili Cook-Off.

We did not criticize her weight (just her fashion) but others took a shot at her weight, and since then little sister Ashlee has spoken out about the criticism of her sister's weight on her personal blog saying,

I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.

All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard.

Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend?

I seriously doubt it.

How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure?

Now can we focus on the things that really matter.

And just today Star magazine is reporting that Tony Romo might have cheated on Jess,

We exclusively report that just hours after Jess flew out of Burbank airport on Jan. 16, her boyfriend decided to host a party — at her house! And if that wasn't bad enough, the hunky quarterback hooked up with a beautiful brunette.

Amid Jessica's gold albums, the party raged on downstairs. But on the second floor, Tony was enjoying his own private party — with a long haired, olive-skinned cutie.

"Everyone was talking about it downstairs," dishes the source. "The girls were saying it was so wrong and shady of Tony to cheat on Jessica — especially in her place! I just can't believe he would hook up with another woman at his own girlfriend's house."

We don't know if we can put much into this as just last year there were claims that Tony spent a guys weekend in Chicago where he "had some fun" as well. That turned out to be blow out of proportion.
