Back in college I used to live catty corner from a 7-11 that the homeless and mentally unstable would frequent (on the corner of 7th and D Street NE). They liked to sit outside on the steps and start conversations with you before and after your Beef Jerky and Funion purchases. Sometimes, if I had enough time on my hands, I would chat. If I was willing to spare a couple Twizzlers or a hot dog they would pay me in the only way they knew how... with advice. "You still single, girl? Maybe you better curl your hair. No man like a girl with strings. You gotta show some cleavage. Wear some sparkly boots. Then you keep a man." Obviously it was hard to take love advice from someone missing a couple teeth that smelled like hot trash.
I can say that it would be equally hard to take any love advice from Ashton Kutcher.
This December, believe it or not, Kutcher graces the cover of men's Health Magazine and offers love advice to their readers. Given most recent developments in his marriage over the last few weeks I am sure we are all wondering if the gang outside 7-11 would have been a better fit.
Best advice that he'd ever gotten, Ashton replied:
“I think it’s all about working on the relationship and making it better … when it’s good. Don’t wait for a problem to work on things. The goal is not to get into a relationship; the goal is to be in a relationship.”
His goal is to be in a relationship? Is that possible when:
1. You have an arrangement with your wife to see other people?
2. You choose to be with young girls willing to sell their stories to tabloids?
3. You would rather push someone to their brink so they can actually break it off versus being an enough to do it yourself?
Maybe the plastic surgery and Human Growth Hormone (HGH) injections were not the answer, after all. Maybe Demi should have just tried getting a perm or wearing some bedazzled jean boots. That’s what the crazies at the 7-11 would probably say… as they chomped on a taquito and smoked some Marlboro Lights.
