Hurricane Sandy took out New Jersey and New York over night on Monday - however the late night shows that tape in NYC went on but with a bit of a catch.
Both David Letterman and Jimmy Fallon each taped their shows without a studio audience.
Fallon performed the opening monologue on the street outside his studio. (Video above)
Fallon tried to make light of the situation saying:
"Theater owners had to cancel all Broadway shows today. Many performers were having trouble making it into the city. You could tell by that one show, Blue Man Guy."
On the flip-side Letterman told the non-audience
"We're in the middle of Hurricane Sandy and we have no studio audience, but we do have quite a show for you tonight. Thank you for joining us in the Ed Sullivan Shelter."
That's true comedic talent.
