Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger have officially tied the knot. It was only rumored that they did get hitched, but as People reported it was confirmed that they are indeed husband and wife. The date was July 1 and also happened to be Canada Day. (They are both Canadian.)

Chad had said why the date is so important to them.

"We met while recording music in March. But we started dating July 1, so I'll let the math speak for itself there. We think it's very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day. We can't wait to start our life together. We're very happy."

The duo started dating last February - they both worked together on her latest album.

The wedding planning for Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger has been steady - that she tells the media at the NYLON's annual June/July Music issue celebration.

"I'm the one who has the crazy vision and he's letting me be me. I just want to make sure I really enjoy this amazing time and I want all the guests who come to have this once in a lifetime experience. I want everyone to say 'Wow!' and for it to be special for everyone, not just us."

She wouldn't admit to the location but said that it will be special:

"If I told you no one would be wowed," she explained. "But I'll say the best part about the wedding is the location."

Avril met Chad while recording for her album in 2012 that will be released this year. She said:

"Obviously I've been married before [to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley] and have had other relationships before, and sometimes you love more than once in a lifetime. 'Let me Go' is the journey of love in one's lifetime."

What else can we expect from the album?

"If you were to hear the album from the top to the end, you would definitely see that it's diverse. I touch on things I haven't touched on before."

People confirmed that after six months of dating the couple will indeed tie the knot.

The two met while writing a song for Averil's new album.

"A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together," a Lavigne pal tells PEOPLE.

Avril used to be married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley.

She must have a soft-spot for rockers.

"Every time he wanted to come back and take meetings to get his career back in order, she would make him go to Asia and Europe," an insider tells Us of Lavigne.

"He hasn't worked and he wants to. They were both unhappy because he wants to have his career, she wants him to stay with her."

Please what "career" does Brody Jenner have besides being rich?

"There is always a chance they will get back together," says the source. "Brody is trying to set the ground rules and wants to be able to work. They have to find a balance."
