There is a certain tier of celebrity that will shill for any reason or any company if it means they get to pocket some dough and keep their name in the press. The former Playboy girlfriend Holly Madison is a prime example. After she left Hugh Heffner, who refused to marry her or provide her with sperm, she set off for Las Vegas where she could start life anew. After several attempts at stardom she got pregnant by a man facing a pretty lengthy prison term. Luckily their daughter Rainbow was born providing Holly with a new and fresh angle for garnering publicity. Before she got pregnant no one cared if she was shopping at The Grove. But with a fetus and then a new baby girl you can work several staged photos. You can shop for maternity items, show your new baby off days after she emerged from your body, and then work the body after baby angle.
Her most recent publicity stunt is her engagement to the aforementioned father of her child. He could serve more than 13 years behind bars for bribery, embezzlement, conspiracy and conflict of interest. Pasquale Rotella, owner of Insomniac events, allegedly used more than $2.5 million in funds from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum towards paying off city officials. According to reports, he used the coliseum to host raves or all-night parties. He and five other men were indicted and Rotella posted $1.8 million for bail. His next scheduled court date is July 29 and, if convicted, he could be locked up for nearly 14 years in prison.
But in his spare time he was able to give Ms. Holly a pretty fancy ring valued at $2 million, which sounds pretty legit. Right?
Here is a press release from the jewelry designer:
Inspired by the Electric Daisy Carnival and the beauty of flowers, the ornate engagement ring design was the vision of Pasquale Rotella in collaboration with family friends & Premier Beverly Hills Jewelry Designers Layna & Alan Friedman. Alan & Layna visited with Holly Madison, Pasquale and their daughter Rainbow at their Las Vegas home to present the 18-carat fancy intense yellow diamond to be used as the center diamond. As Holly laid the rare stone on her finger, Pasquale knew by her expression that they had found the perfect centerpiece for her ring. Production on the ring began immediately upon Layna & Alan’s return to the Alan Friedman Store in Beverly Hills. This dynamic design duo sought after for their dazzling and unique custom creations, pulled the finest natural intense color diamonds from their collection to bring to life Pasquale’s vision and arrange the 3.5 carats of vivid pink, yellow and blue natural color diamond flowers to adorn the ring. A custom hand-engraved owl adds intricate detail and individuality to the hand-crafted mounting. “Adding the uniqueness like the owl that the couple has a shared love of, adds romance and sentiment to their jewelry piece,” says Designer Layna. The gorgeous, one-of-a-kind ring is valued at over $2,000,000.
Does anyone need an 18-carat diamond? If it were to be considered a “statement ring” the statement would be PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO ME or CAN SOMEONE GET ME A NEW SHOW ON E!? You would think if you were to get a deal for a ring valued at that much money you wouldn’t have it look like a Pre-K class vomited on it with Crayola finger paint.
